Oh, gosh, gave me a bad moment there.
(Still trying to wrap my mind around Donna Godhaux trashing hotel rooms. Really?)

She had an alcohol problem towards the end of her time with the band. She's talked about having "never gone a day without getting drunk," or a quote to that effect, when they were on tour (at least at that point.) It doesn't seem to have been a wild-n-crazy fight-for-our-right-to-party trashing.

I was going to exclude the part in parentheses, but I figured that would really scare some folks. I can't see Donna trashing hotel rooms either. I could see Bob enjoying that in his younger pre-wolfman years though.

"I really acted badly quite a lot... One night I took my new BMW and rammed into Keith's new BMW. I backed up and rammed into it again, and then I did it again; I hit his car as hard as I could three times and completely totaled his car. Then I took mine and totaled it into a pole, and took a taxi home.
Along the same lines, if the hotel we were staying at didn't get my silk blouses back in time so I could wear the one I wanted onstage, I would simply demolish the hotel room. Ask Jerry. Ask Phil. I remember one time I did a spectacular job on a hotel room in Detroit, and Phil and Billy and the road manager came up because they'd heard it was the worst they'd ever seen. I was notorious for it."
(Donna, 1985)

Take that, Bonham!

An indicator of the average IQ (and age) of my co-workers:

NOTE: The following conversation did in fact happen as described

"Hey, you hear about Donna Summer?"
"No, what happened?"
"She died"
"Wow, that's terrible"
"I agree"
"Sure did love her work on Three's Company"

Chuck Brown's recent demise affected me more.

Glad I got to see him decades back in DC. 9;30 Club.

Wow, I missed that one. Too bad. A real innovator he was. Too many good musicians are leaving this Earth lately.

Ongoing technical problems with the site
caused a delay in getting this message out.

(If you got birthday pages for Jackie
McClean and Betty Carter that had
no videos, I've fixed it.)

Chuck Brown, creator of Go Go,
Washington DC legend, and great
man of his community has past
away.

Hard to find videos that do him
justice, but here's one.

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band,

RIP Chuck and Donna
